Judging Roles and Responsibilities

Overview

The annual Moreton Bay Business Excellence & Innovation Awards (MBBEIA) program recognises and celebrates the outstanding achievements of our region’s businesses and provides a pathway to national and international awards programs.

Each member of the MBBEIA judging panel plays a key role maintaining and growing the credibility of the awards program and assessing the MBBEIA entries in their respective categories.

The objective of the MBBEIA judging process is to fairly and independently evaluate each entry through a formal process. MBBEIA judges are required to assess submissions and participate in applicant interview (where required).

Selection Criteria

  • Strong, demonstrated knowledge of respective judging categories and/or industry.

Responsibilities of a judge

Judges are responsible for the following:

  • Help promote the MBBEIA to industry and encourage business owners, operators, and organisations to be involved.
  • Attend judges briefing meeting (Thursday 2 September)
  • Assess all written submissions (accessible online) within the judging timeframe September 6-30, 2021. Judges will be given 25 days to read and score their submissions.
  • Attend final judging interview days (where required) to score finalists and determine overall winner.
  • Provide constructive and detailed written feedback for entrants during the judging process.
  • Provide feedback to MBRIT to improve the process and outcomes for the MBBEIA.
  • Invited to attend the MBBEIA Gala Ceremony on Friday 19 November 2021, Eatons Hill Hotel, Eatons Hill.
  • Judging (reading, scoring and feedback) is carried our be each judge during the 25 day judging period (September 6-30. 2021)
  • Submissions are judged on their content and evidence, and are scored according to the established criteria, and averaged through all judges scores.
  • Submissions can only be judged on the content contained within (which includes external links).

Conflict of Interest

Each judge is required to declare any situation where a conflict of interest may arise. This may be as a result of some association with an entrant of aspect of the industry, as defined. PLEASE NOTE: A MBBEIA judge is not permitted to write a submission or assist a MBBEIA entrant in any way. If you wish to assist a business, you will be ineligible to be a judge. This also applies if the business you work for is entering a submission.
