Showcasing the best in business

On the back of a successful debut in 2017, MBRIT CEO Shane Newcombe encourages everyone from mum and dad businesses and not-for-profits to startups and students to enter the prestigious awards program.

“We received such a high calibre of entries last year, and we look forward to seeing yet another competitive field of standout businesses this time around,” Mr Newcombe said.

“The awards shine a light on the accomplishments of our home-grown heroes who are driving a billion-dollar tourism economy and continued growth of the region, and we invite everyone to get on board and help showcase the best in business and industry.

“Thanks to Advance Queensland and partners of Innovate Moreton Bay under the Advancing Regional Innovation Program (ARIP), we are also offering significantly higher cash prizes for the innovation categories – so now there’s even more reasons to enter!”

Moreton Bay Region Mayor Allan Sutherland said more than 100 applications were received last year, demonstrating the strength of the Moreton Bay Region’s economy - which has rated as one of the fastest growing in Queensland.

“I was blown away last year by the calibre of entries and astounded by the ways in which local businesses are pushing boundaries to find a competitive edge locally, nationally and even on the international stage,” Mayor Sutherland said.

“It gives me great confidence in our region’s growing economy to know that local businesses and entrepreneurs are coming up with new and innovative ideas to change the way we live and work.”
